Jenny Chandler has filled The Food of Northern Spain with some excellent, often very straight forward, recipes ranging geographically from Galicia on the Northwestern tip of Spain, right across to Barcelona. She does a good job of explaining regional differences in ingredients and technique and enlivens the book with plenty of relevant anecdote. In addition, the illustrating photos are of very high quality and Chandler provides a clear and concise guide to the wines of the region that makes a very welcome change from just buying Rioja. The Food of Northern Spain is strongly recommended for anyone interested in Mediterranean and Southern European cookery.
